SHEEPSKIN BOOT AND SLIPPER SIZE GUIDE

All of our boots and slippers are unisex. Most people fit our standard sizes, and take their usual British shoe size. If you’re not sure what your size is keep reading to learn how to measure your feet.

MEASURE THE LENGTH OF YOUR FEET

The length measurement will determine the size. The fit you choose is a personal preference, so this guide and these measurement charts are only an approximate reference. You’ll need to measure both of your feet because they’re usually slightly different to each other. If possible, ask a friend to help you. Measure your feet in the way you’ll wear your new boots or slippers - with your choice of thin socks, thick socks, or barefoot.

Choose a hard, flat floor and position yourself where it meets the wall. Place a piece of paper against the wall, make sure it stays level with the edge of the wall and doesn’t slip under the skirting board. Stand on the paper with the back of your foot lightly touching the wall. Place a heavy book at a 90 degree angle at the point where your longest toe ends. Using a sharp pencil mark where the book is.

Use a ruler to measure from the edge of the paper (your heel) to the tip of your longest toe. Measure in millimetres. Make a note of both measurements. Using the measurement from your longer foot check the table below to see which size will fit you best.

It is normal to have a slight difference between feet, If you have more than a size difference between your feet I can make you a pair of 2 different sizes. Email Xanthe to learn more about bespoke options.

If you are still not sure which size to choose, email Xanthe for advice, or consider a boot gift voucher if you are shopping for a present. It includes information and material samples all beautifully presented in a little box.

MEASURE THE WIDTH OF YOUR FEET

These sheepskin boots and slippers follow the natural shape of the foot. The wide toe box gives your toes plenty of space. You’ll have your own preferences when it comes to fit, so treat this guide as a starting point rather than a fixed rule.

Standard fits most people, from narrow to a slightly wide foot. See the chart below for the maximum recommended foot width. If your feet are wider than this maximum or close to it and you know you like a wide fit shoe, then get in touch by email to order an extra wide fit.

The Extra Wide fit is roomier overall for anyone with an extra wide foot who needs a broader footbed.

Measure the width at the widest point across your toes. As when measuring the length (see above) stand on a piece of paper with the side of your foot against the wall and place a heavy book on the other edge of your foot at the widest point. Mark with a pencil and measure the distance in millimetres. Using the measurement from your wider foot check the table below.

width chart

There’s a huge variety of foot shapes and sizes, it’s not just about how wide they are. Some feet are high volume all over, others are slim at the heel and only wide at the toes. The chart is a general guide, but comfort depends on more than width alone. If you’re unsure, I’m happy to help.

YOUR FEET ARE UNIQUE

Feet come in all shapes and sizes. If you need a high instep, wider leg, extra volume, or have feet of two different sizes, then I can make a bespoke pattern for you. Email Xanthe to find out more.

If you are nearby, you are welcome to visit the workshop to try on different sizes. Please make an appointment.

SHEEPSKIN BOOT AND SLIPPER FIT

New boots should feel snug, maybe even a little tight. Your new boots will give as you wear them.  The wool insole moulds to the shape of your foot in a few days.  However, if your toes feel squashed or are pushing out into the front of the boot, they are too small. You’ll need some space in front of your toes, about 10mm.

If you need to return an item, I’m happy to provide an exchange or full refund. Try your boots or slippers on carefully, and make sure you’re happy before you wear them. Returns must be in perfect condition and within 28 days of receipt.  Please read the returns policy for more details.
